HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 1, 1998 — In its continuing efforts to integrate with and enhance leading applications, Advanced Software Technologies, Inc. (ASTI), today announced development of the new Decoder for Visio® Professional, an add-in providing powerful reverse-engineering functionality to the enormously popular Visio Professional.
The Decoder for Visio Professional will allow users the ability to automatically produce detailed application designs using the program's original source code. Engineers using UML within Visio Professional will now be able to produce complete UML models, allowing for a quick analysis and review of the code.
"We're giving Visio's UML users the ability to radically streamline their reverse engineering tasks — resulting in an overall reduction in an application's development period and a potentially faster time to market for that application," said Greg Schottland, founder and president of Advanced Software Technologies, Inc. "Visio, with an extensive number of UML users, is an ideal strategic partner for us and we're excited about the relationship."
Advanced Software Technologies is the creator of GDPro, a second-generation development tool that gives professional developers the ability to easily create object-oriented software designs for new software or from existing applications and to generate code from those designs with the touch of a button — and also provides the most complete UML notation support of any tool available.
"The ability to reverse engineer source code into a Visio Professional UML diagram offers users an ideal way to easily understand and analyze the source code," said Anthony Bloesch, director of database and software modeling at Visio. "We're pleased to have Advanced Software as a partner to complement our own product's software modeling capabilities."
Decoder for Visio Professional will be available later this summer.
