SEATTLE, April 2 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced its receipt of two awards for its contribution to software and database design — the Software Development - Jolt Productivity Award and the Visual Basic Programmers Journal (VBPJ) Reader's Choice Award. Visio® Professional 5.0 was chosen for its visual modeling capabilities as well as its ability to greatly enhance the productivity of software developers.
"Visio Professional's support of the object-oriented and data modeling methods make the product extremely well-suited for developing software faster, easier, and more efficiently," said Lori Pearce, general manager, Professional products business unit. "It's quite a privilege to receive awards from these two publications, which have strong readership in the software developer community. These awards represent the first of what we hope will be many notable achievements for Visio Professional in the visual modeling arena."
Visio Professional is a powerful visual modeling tool that can be used to help a team graphically depict a program's architecture throughout the development cycle. Visio Professional 5.0 supports the Unified Modeling Language (UML), the emerging standard for specifying, constructing, visualizing, and documenting the artifacts of a software-intensive system, and includes the Microsoft Repository. The incorporation of these technologies allows diagrams created in Visio Professional to be transformed into models exchanged with other development tools and shared with other people involved in the development of a system. Visio Professional can play an important role in helping managers complete projects on time and under budget, as well as increase overall corporate productivity.
"I appreciate the product's capability to help programmers create, edit, and fully understand an object-oriented model in an easy-to-use graphical environment," said Mike Zeiler, product specialist, ESRI. "Visio Professional is the most accessible, flexible, and efficient tool I've found to meet my software engineering needs."
