Eagle Point Partners with Visio

DUBUQUE, Iowa, July 2 /PRNewswire/ — Eagle Point Software Corporation (Nasdaq: EGPT) announced today that it has joined the Business Partner Program with Visio Corporation (Nasdaq: VSIO). This partnership will allow Eagle Point to capitalize on Visio's Phoenix CAD technology platform, as well as leveraging Visio's domestic and international presence.

Visio's Phoenix technology provides industry leading file and application compatibility with Autodesk Inc.'s AutoCAD, such as employing .DWG as its native file format. This compatibility allows existing AutoCAD third-party applications to be quickly and easily ported to Visio Phoenix technology, thereby significantly leveraging Eagle Point's development efforts. Eagle Point has begun to port various modules of its civil engineering, surveying, architectural, landscape architecture and structural product lines to Visio's Phoenix CAD technology. Portions of these products were shown at the AEC Systems show held in Philadelphia, Pa. from June 17-19.

"Phoenix CAD technology presents a compelling 'benefit to cost ratio' to the AEC marketplace. With an average selling price of $499, and possessing full featured CAD functionality and a no-compromise access to legacy data, we believe Visio could increase the size of the market that Eagle Point addresses," said Rod Blum, CEO of Eagle Point Software. Additionally Blum stated, "We see Visio as an addition to our current mix of Autodesk, MicroStation and stand-alone applications, rather than a replacement. Our mission is to have the best applications and support in our market space, regardless of the CAD engine chosen."

John Forbes, General Manager of the technical business unit at Visio said, "Eagle Point is a recognized leader in providing application software to the CAD marketplace. Visio Corporation will be working closely with Eagle Point to insure the timely availability of high quality Phoenix based applications to the CAD customer."
