Network Tools Announces Agreement with Visio

Visio Technology Positioned as Key Element Within Network Design Engine

ATLANTA, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ — Network Tools Inc. and Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced they have entered into a Visio Business Partner agreement wherein Network Tools will develop an automated intelligent network configuration and design solution that integrates Visio's leading Windows®-based graphics technology. The combination of Visio® technology as a core component of this solution will benefit end users and vendors selling network equipment by providing greater efficiency for gathering input on site, as well as for testing and deploying network equipment solutions in a visual format. Network Tools is a new company, formally announced this week at NetWorld+Interop, that will focus its development efforts on a new category of technology called applied internetworking applications, which redefine how hardware products are developed, tested, sold and deployed worldwide, and how users evaluate competing vendor network and product designs.

"More companies use Visio to design and document their networks than any other software," said Paul Serrano, president and CEO of Network Tools. "By developing our solution on the Visio graphics standard, we can focus our expertise — solving problems for network sales professionals, channels and end users — while still providing our customers with powerful, easy-to-use graphics capabilities. In particular, Visio's open architecture and world-class support for ActiveX™ automation lends great flexibility for meeting customers' networking needs."

"Network Tools' decision to integrate Visio technology for the graphical representation of network hardware systems is exciting, given the tremendous potential of this industry," said Ted Johnson, Visio co-founder and executive vice president. "The partnership of Visio technology and Network Tools' expertise in this field is certain to yield a graphical tool kit that sets unprecedented standards within the internetworking market."

Additional details of Network Tools' shipment of this solution will be addressed at the company's Booth 7499 at NetWorld+Interop, to be held Sept. 18-20 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
