Visio Partners with ExecuTrain to Offer End-User Training

Customer Demand Prompts Courseware Focused on Providing Skills to Visualize Corporate Processes, Infrastructure and Information

SEATTLE, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced a partnership with ExecuTrain Corp. to deliver end-user training to people interested in advancing their use of Visio® products for business diagramming, business process management and technical drawing. Courses will be designed to give users fundamental skills in diagramming, measured drawings and customization of Visio. A version of the courseware will also be made available directly from Visio Corp. for corporate customers and Visio Business Partners.

"One of our primary goals is to make certain our technology is well understood and leveraged by all types of users," said Gary Gigot, vice president of worldwide products at Visio Corp. "With the growing significance of business diagramming and technical drawing in corporate computing, we recognized the demand for broader and more advanced Visio skills. Our partnership with ExecuTrain is exciting because it will enable our users to fully take advantage of Visio's capabilities."

Visio-Approved Courseware

The courseware, codeveloped by Visio and ExecuTrain, will focus on four areas: diagramming, measured drawings, advanced tools and solutions, and use of the Visio Business Modeler, a new offering from the Visio Solutions Library. The diagramming curriculum will include training in flowcharts, organizational charts, network diagrams, electrical diagrams and software engineering. The measured drawings section will provide exposure to facilities management, space planning and AutoCAD conversion. Advanced tools and solutions will prepare users to create and modify SmartShapes® symbols, stencils and advanced wizards.

The last course, targeted at users evaluating or implementing the SAP R/3T system, will introduce the use of the Visio Business Modeler to gain and share knowledge more efficiently about SAP best-practice principles. In particular, this lesson will introduce the fundamentals of getting started with the Visio Business Modeler to understand, create, edit and verify Event-Driven Process Chain methodology (EPC) diagrams used by R/3. Users will also learn how to easily integrate Visio Business Modeler process models representing "as is" or "to be" scenarios in other Windows®-based products.

"The use of Visio technology has become increasingly widespread throughout corporations, and we are excited about the opportunity that this training will provide to users seeking to become more productive with Visio as a core desktop tool," said Bob Poole, director of proprietary training services at ExecuTrain.
