PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ — IDS Professor Scheer Inc. and Visio Corp. today announced their work to provide a bidirectional transfer of graphical output between IDS' ARIS Toolset and the Visio® Business Modeler for SAP's R/3™ system. A transfer of information between the Visio Business Modeler and ARIS Toolset, which provides full online support for SAP's R/3 modeling standards, will serve as a critical link for adapting the R/3 Reference Model to customer-specific requirements. IDS will demonstrate a prototype of this solution at SAPPHIRE® '96 Philadelphia, SAP's eighth annual North American user conference, being held Aug. 25-29 at the Philadelphia Convention Center.
"Our goal with this new solution is to provide Visio users with our comprehensive ARIS Toolset for cost and time analysis of 'as is' and 'to be' process scenarios, as well as advanced modeling and configuration capabilities within the Windows® computing environment," said Dr. Mathias Kirchmer, president and CEO of IDS Professor Scheer Inc. "Visio users can benefit from IDS' 10 years of experience in implementation of SAP's R/3." Employees within an enterprise involved in the implementation of SAP software are often given the mandate to take ownership of their processes and to efficiently manage and update the system as the models become outdated and revised. The Visio Business Modeler, an add-on for Visio and Visio Technical software programs, provides a graphical representation of business processes and models in an R/3 system. Project teams use this solution to easily examine, enhance and modify process model scenarios.
The ARIS Toolset provides advanced modeling functionality of the R/3 Process Models as well as an easy-to-use system to manage the elements of the R/3 process for analysis and configuration.
The development work led by IDS Professor Scheer enables the direct transformation of output from the Visio Business Modeler, eliminating the manual input of information regarding newly designed or modified processes into ARIS. This effort extends the value of process model diagrams created in Visio for more efficient management of the model's detailed simulation analysis, activity-based costing, and ISO 9000 certification, all supported by the ARIS Toolset. Through Visio's support of ActiveX™ Technologies, the exchange of models to the Visio Business Modeler from the ARIS Toolset will assist users in easy integration of these models within other Windows-based documentation.
"Because users have already recognized significant gains using the Visio Business Modeler to collect and examine information about their organization's processes, we are encouraged by the value that our software, incorporated within IDS' tool, will provide," said Jeremy Jaech, president and CEO of Visio Corp. "This solution achieves a fundamental step in further reducing the barriers between users who must understand and configure the R/3 system and those who will use it on a regular basis."
Visio Corp. will demonstrate the Visio Business Modeler and provide details of its continued development efforts for the R/3 system at Hall B, Booth 409 at SAPPHIRE '96 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. IDS Professor Scheer Inc. will demonstrate the ARIS Toolset with all its extensions and interfaces as well as its consulting services at Booth 1026.
