SEATTLE, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: "VSIO") today announced the online availability of Visio® Internet Assistant, a new add-on that delivers Internet functionality to users of 32-bit versions of Visio and Visio Technical. The Visio Internet Assistant will provide value to Visio customers who want to create Web pages with Visio or to publish Visio drawings as Web pages. A beta release of Visio Internet Assistant is available immediately, at no charge, on Visio's Web site, at http://www.visio.com.
With the Hyperlink Editor in Visio Internet Assistant, users can easily link shapes in one drawing to a completely different drawing, to a file from another application, or to a page on the World Wide Web. Additionally, entire drawings can be saved in Web-ready HTML format, keeping all links intact. Also provided in Internet Assistant are JPEG and PNG graphics filters for exporting from Visio to HTML with popular graphics formats.
"Our installed base of over 800,000 users has been active in the explosion of the Internet and is eager to integrate Visio drawings within corporate intranets as well as on company Web sites," said Jeremy Jaech, president and CEO of Visio Corp. "Visio is all about enabling people to visualize their businesses, and providing accessibility to Visio drawings on the Internet is another way we help our customers do just that."
Utilizing Internet Assistant, users will be able to view exported Visio files with the latest versions of popular Internet browsers, including Microsoft® Internet Explorer 3.0 and Netscape Navigator 3.0. Tools for enhanced Internet functionality will continue to be developed and incorporated into future versions of Visio and Visio Technical, as well as into the upcoming addition to the Visio product line, Visio Professional.
