SEATTLE, April 23 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corporation (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced a special product bundle of Visio Express™ 4.0, a scaled-down version of Visio's flagship business diagramming software program, with the Kanji version of Microsoft® Office Professional for the Windows® 95 operating system. The bundle is available for a limited time primarily through retail channels throughout Japan.
"The Kanji version of Visio 4.0, released last May, has achieved great success as the best-selling business diagramming software in the Japanese market by meeting the needs of professionals who rely on visual communication, but did not previously have the proper tools to help them express their ideas," said Kevin Brown, managing director of Asia/Pacific and Latin America at Visio. "A combination including Visio Express and Microsoft Office Professional, the dominant office suite on the market, provides users a powerful business diagramming tool, helping them to better communicate their ideas and meet a broad range of business needs critical to their success."
Visio Express 4.0 features select diagramming types, allowing users to incorporate business diagrams such as flowcharts, maps, project timelines, organizational charts and office space plans into their everyday work. In addition, based on the same engine as Visio® 4.0, Visio Express 4.0 takes advantage of third-generation support for OLE and OLE Automation, allowing users to seamlessly integrate Visio drawings with the Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint®, Word and Microsoft Access desktop applications. And because Visio Express 4.0 is a 32-bit application, it has unrivaled consistency with both Office 95 and Windows 95, supporting features such as the Office Binder, long file names, Quick View previews, and extensive implementation of the right mouse button.
The suggested retail price for the bundle, including Visio Express 4.0 in CD-ROM format, is 40,000 yen (approximately $400 U.S. currency). The price of the upgrade version is 32,000 yen (approximately $320 U.S. currency).
