SEATTLE, April 22 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corporation (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced the formation of the Visio® Business Partner program, designed as an information and support network that helps independent software vendors (ISVs), consultants, systems integrators, value-added resellers and corporate developers deliver superior business solutions that complement or utilize Visio graphics technology. This program will benefit corporations by providing extended support to facilitate the implementation of Visio solutions, as well as by fostering the development of third-party applications for markets that Visio has not yet addressed.
"Since virtually every business function in corporations requires a graphical component to display dynamic information or enhance the presentation of data and ideas, the opportunity for third-party partners to deliver Visio solutions to the enterprise is immense," said Jeremy Jaech, president and CEO of Visio Corp. "Our mission for the program is to strengthen our partnerships with developers who are using Visio's flexible technology platform and to help bring Visio solutions to end users in all types of businesses."
With the formation of the Visio Business Partner program, Visio will recruit specialists in key target markets such as network management, business process management, architecture, engineering and facilities management in major regions throughout North America. Participants in the Visio Business Partner program will be provided with training, information and tools to enable the quick and cost-effective development of a new class of applications and services designed for their specific customer base. Other benefits will include sales and marketing support, technical support from Visio, and consideration of third-party solutions for inclusion within the Visio Solutions Library™ product line, a variety of SmartShapes® solutions, add-ons and content featured prominently on Visio's Web site. Additionally, the program will include the availability of the Visio Product Integration Pack (PIP), which allows partners to integrate and resell Visio technology easily with their value-added solutions.
ISVs whose products are compatible with and complementary to Visio's product line are eligible for membership in the Visio Business Partner program. Current partners include Computron Software Inc., Hitachi Software Engineering America Ltd., Laboratory Technologies Corp. (LABTECH), Kanotech Information Systems Ltd., MathSoft Inc. and WinSHAPES Inc.
According to Yutaka Tanaka, vice president and general manager at Hitachi Software Engineering America Ltd. in Boulder, Colo., "With Visio's installed base of more than 700,000 users, we recognized that a solution based on Visio's graphics platform would offer us a unique opportunity to bring Hitachi's leading-edge imaging technology to a whole new market. Visio's support for OLE Automation and unique SmartShapes technology also provided us with the most sophisticated tools available, thus allowing for the development of SmartView™, a complementary add-on software application for Visio that allows users to easily integrate raster image data."
"Visio's leadership in providing business graphics to users at Fortune 1,000 companies made it a compelling choice as the graphics authoring technology within our Workflow software," said Richard Bailey, Workflow product marketing manager at Computron Software. "A key component in workflow automation projects requires that users have the ability to represent business processes with a standard graphics front end. Because Visio is a de facto standard for business diagramming in the industry, we were confident that its integration within our Workflow product would assist users in intuitively designing workflow processes, thus advancing the usability of our technology among a much broader user base."
The establishment of the Visio Business Partner program represents a new opportunity for solution providers, consultants, systems integrators and corporate developers who implement custom solutions for businesses of all sizes within various industries. Participation in the program enables these solution "builders" to work directly with Visio's corporate sales team, marketing and consulting group in delivering a wide range of Visio solutions to mutual customers.
Among the first solution builders in the program is EDS, a leader in the global information services industry.. According to Fred Diggs, senior engineer at EDS, "We often work with companies who have chosen Visio as a tool to improve their business processes or are looking for a graphical solution that allows them to manage, analyze and share information more efficiently. The Visio Business Partner program is an important option for delivering value to our customers requiring customized solutions to improve their business processes."
The Visio Business Partner program also has been developed to meet the unique needs of resellers looking to add significant value to Visio's product line in providing solutions for the business world through development or other services. The program includes a thorough review process based on the selection of resellers with specific market experience and aptitude for providing solutions based on the Visio platform. Experience as a Microsoft® Solution Provider, Lotus Notes® Business Partner, Novell® Platinum Reseller or Authorized AutoCAD® Dealer program is also encouraged.
