SEATTLE, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp. today announced Visio Shapes™ for Network Equipment, the latest release in its growing library of aftermarket Visio-based products. Visio's Network Equipment Shapes includes vendor-specific symbols representing products from leading network-equipment manufacturers, complementing the network-diagram stencils already packaged with Visio® 4.0 and Visio Technical 4.0.
"Network administrators faced with managing detailed and often large quantities of information on their local and worldwide networks demand diagramming solutions that can accurately document complex networks," said Ivar Michelsons, product manager for Visio Shapes at Visio Corp. "Visio Shapes for Network Equipment offers network professionals a superior new approach for creating logical and physical network diagrams."
Visio Shapes for Network Equipment includes 15 stencils containing nearly 500 vendor-specific SmartShapes® that can be used to create professional-quality rack assembly and network schematics. Visio's SmartShape technology enables shapes such as network cards to snap into equipment racks and remain in place even when the user moves the rack. Visio Shapes for Network Equipment includes SmartShapes for network products from the following vendors: 3Com Corp., AT&T, Bay Networks, Cabletron, Chipcom, Cisco Systems Corp., Compaq Computer Corp., Digital Equipment Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co., IBM Corp., Kalpana, Synoptics, and Wellfleet. Each shape includes product-specific attributes, including vendor, product name, description and part number. This permits users to generate detailed inventory reports for network-asset management using the Inventory Wizard in Visio 4.0 and Visio Technical 4.0.
Network Equipment Shapes, in conjunction with Visio 4.0 or Visio Technical 4.0, takes advantage of integrated features in Windows® 95 and other Windows®-based applications such as Microsoft® Office 95, allowing users to leverage their existing Windows-based desktops. Visio's enhanced support of OLE 2.0 and OLE Automation also enables users to link data to their network drawings or integrate Visio and the Network Equipment Shapes with other programs.
Visio Shapes for Network Equipment requires Visio 4.0 or Visio Technical 4.0 and support the Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and Windows NT™ 3.51 operating systems. The product includes a 60-day, money-back guarantee.
Visio Shapes for Network Equipment, available Dec. 1, will have a U.S. estimated street price of $99.
