SEATTLE, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp.'s (Nasdaq: VSIO) innovative approach to interactive public relations was recently recognized by the Public Relations Society of America Portland Metro Chapter with two Spotlight Awards for excellence in public relations and communications.
Visio received Spotlight Awards for its recently redesigned Visio press information site in the Web site category and also for a recent press Webcast in the special events category.
Judges applauded the new online press information site, which was completely redesigned to better serve journalists and analysts. The site was reorganized by audience and vertical focus, providing comprehensive and easy-to-access information on all Visio announcements and products. The press site went online several days before the Webcast held on Aug. 11.
The Webcast was Visio's first online news conference for journalists and analysts and was used to kick off the launch of the Visio 2000 family of products over the last few months. Participants were invited to attend this event using an innovative digital invitation, which automatically linked recipients to the registration page on the Intervu Netpodium site, the host for the virtual event. Afterwards, the Webcast was archived on the Visio Web site so that those who were unable to attend the live event could log in and view it at their leisure.
"We've seen a tremendous shift in the media industry over the last couple of years with the advent of the Internet which is changing the way journalists work and how people consume news," said Jason Reindorp, worldwide public relations manager for Visio. "In choosing our new PR team it was important to find an organization that was in step with the direction the media industry is moving. Our goal was to streamline the media relations process and make the most of the new media available to reach our customers."
