SEATTLE, July 28 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced an upcoming interactive Internet event organized exclusively for members of the Visio Connections reseller partner program. Tomorrow, Visio Connections members will participate in a Web seminar where Visio® 2000, the next generation of the company's technology and product family, will be previewed. Connections members will participate in live demonstrations of Visio 2000 Standard and Technical Editions and will receive a free copy of Discover Visio 5.0 Advanced Interactive Training. "This is a tremendous opportunity for Visio Connections members to preview the exciting new Visio 2000 technology that will be available to them in the coming weeks," said Keith Collins, vice president of North American channel sales for Visio Corp. "This Internet event facilitates an online, interactive dialogue with our resellers that provides valuable instantaneous feedback."

Visio 2000: The Next-Generation Visio Product Family

The most significant milestone in the company's history, Visio 2000 will serve as the launching pad for future product enhancements and technology initiatives. Visio 2000 brings the power of clear visual communication to the business professional's everyday work, while providing a powerful, cost-effective platform for development of graphics-based drawing and diagramming business solutions. Visio 2000 delivers new drawing, navigational and Internet enhancements, which lead to an overall increase in ease of use and productivity. These enhancements offer users new and more intuitive ways to draw and diagram. Visio 2000 also gives users the power to integrate Visio technology into their existing IT infrastructures, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership when Visio 2000 is deployed enterprisewide.

Beginning in August and continuing through the remainder of 1999, Visio will ship four Visio 2000 product editions. Visio 2000 Standard Edition will provide a versatile, easy-to-use tool for general business diagramming needs. Visio 2000 Technical Edition will deliver powerful drawing solutions for process engineering, facilities management and electrical engineering. Visio 2000 Professional Edition will offer tools that assist IT professionals to rapidly diagram information systems. Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition will offer deeper, automated solutions for IT specialists in the areas of networking and application development.

Connections Reseller Partner Program

The Visio Connections program provides resellers with the tools they need to deliver enhanced service to their customers. These tools include free Visio products, dedicated technical support, quarterly training and access to Visio's sales resource library, among other benefits.

To take part in the program and receive a Visio Connections toolkit, resellers should contact Ingram Micro Inc. (PN #500367), Tech Data Corp. (PN #320102), or Merisel Inc. (PN #1004540). Upon receiving their toolkit, resellers will be directed to a dedicated Web page or toll-free number where they can register for the program and begin receiving ongoing partner benefits. The toolkit and Visio Connections one-time program fee of $495 entitles partners to the following:

  • A dedicated Visio channel partner representative

  • Sales resource library (notebook and CD) — with product information, selling tips, sample demos and drawings, part numbers and licensing information

Other near-term benefits include on-site sales training, e-mail newsletters, industry-specific sales tips and regional sales and technical training courses.

Netpodium Technology

The Visio Connections Web seminar will be made possible through Netpodium's Quickcast, which is soon to become available exclusively to users of its Event Hosting Service. Quickcast leverages RealNetworks' RealSystems G2 technology and builds on the Netpodium Web Event platform to support live application demos, whiteboard drawing and annotation tools. During Visio's upcoming live and interactive Web seminar, presenters will be able to stream a live software demonstration of Visio 2000 to an audience of any size, without requiring the actual application to be installed on audience participants' PCs.
