Visio Announces Support for Microsoft Office 2000

Future Version of Industry-Leading Drawing and Diagramming Technology Will Offer Integration with Microsoft Office 2000

SEATTLE, June 7 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced that the next generation of the Visio technology and product family, Visio® 2000, will offer full support for Microsoft Office 2000. Visio's long-standing support of Microsoft products continues to benefit customers by allowing Visio's drawing and diagramming technology and the business productivity industry standard, Microsoft Office 2000, to be used together. The combination of Visio's intuitive drawing software with the power of Microsoft Office 2000's ease-of-use and look and feel empowers Visio users to get up and running quickly and achieve greater results in less time.

"Customers will be happy to know that by combining Microsoft Office 2000 and Visio 2000, they now have a powerful set of familiar tools with which they can share and analyze business information," said John Duncan, Microsoft Office product manager. "Visio 2000 extends the collaborative work environment that Microsoft Office has become."

Smarter Drawing and Diagramming

Visio, a Microsoft Office 2000 launch partner, is building on the unparalleled productivity and user-friendly interface of Microsoft Office 2000. Since Visio 1.0, the Visio interface has provided users with the look and operation of Microsoft technology, which reduces the time spent learning a new user interface. Visio is also working to deliver new levels of support for Microsoft technologies. The upcoming Visio 2000 technology will provide developers with a refined, mature object model that is completely accessible through a Microsoft COM interface, thus supporting tight integration between Visio technology and Microsoft Office 2000. In addition, Visio will support version 6.0 of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). VBA is the scripting and automation tool found in Microsoft Office 2000 and the Visio 2000 technology. Now, as in previous versions of Visio, users can apply VBA expertise in customizing Visio technology along with a broad range of other industry applications. This allows Visio technology to be integrated with existing data, applications and workflow across the enterprise to solve real-world business problems.

"Microsoft Office 2000 is a powerful upgrade, and we wanted to ensure that our customers would benefit from these new technologies within Visio 2000," said Mike Gelon, director of Solutions Marketing at Visio. "We are excited about the integration between Visio and Microsoft Office 2000 because of the power it will give our customers in developing and deploying powerful business solutions."
