SEATTLE, May 25 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced that Integrated Software Specialists Inc. (ISS) is the newest member in Visio's Visual Modeling Coalition, a group of consultants and ISVs dedicated to using standard methodologies, open repositories and common interfaces to accurately reflect user requirements and provide a higher level of tool accessibility for application developers. ISS, a leading provider of advanced technology consulting services, joins IntelliCorp Inc. and InConcept Inc. as members in the Visual Modeling Coalition, which was established in 1998.
"Since its inception, the Visual Modeling Coalition has actively promoted the value of a standards-based, methodology-neutral approach for the application developer," said Leslie Grandy, director of the Application Development and Management Customer Unit at Visio Corp. "Integrated Software Specialists furthers the mission of the coalition as a provider of solutions and training for customers utilizing Visio® Professional and Visio Enterprise to build successful object-oriented and component-based projects."
"We are extremely pleased to be working with Visio as a member of the Visual Modeling Coalition to provide critical training for its customers," said Dan Dock, director of business development at ISS. "Through the coalition, we are truly able to align technology with customers' needs at the speed of change."
The Visual Modeling Coalition is composed of database and software design solution and support providers focused on tool interoperability and component reuse. There are two classes of membership within the Visual Modeling Coalition: integrated solutions vendors, and training and consulting providers. Integrated solutions vendors produce solutions that enhance or extend modeling support included in Visio Enterprise and Visio Professional, with an emphasis on support for the Microsoft Repository and an exposed automation model that can be controlled by Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). Training and consulting providers promote the development of database and software systems using Visio Enterprise, Visio Professional and integrated solutions. The Visual Modeling Coalition enables customers to expand and adapt their development toolbox as their project evolves, using modeling tools and methodologies that are appropriate for their particular project. Customers can feel confident that the level of tool interoperability has been certified by a third party and that support providers have a proven track record with Visio technology.
Members of the Visual Modeling Coalition receive such benefits as joint marketing opportunities, access to beta versions of Visio products and access to Visio products for internal development, training and promotional purposes. More information regarding membership in the Visual Modeling Coalition can be found on the Visio Web site at http://www.visio.com/partnering/.
