SEATTLE, May 12 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced that Visio® Enterprise 5.0, launched in October 1998, has been honored by Software Development magazine with a Jolt Hall of Fame Award. The Jolt awards were presented earlier this week at the Software Development '99 West Conference in San Francisco.
"The Jolt Hall of Fame Award represents the highest level of recognition for our efforts in support of software developers," said Leslie Grandy, director of the application development and management customer unit at Visio. "With Visio Enterprise, we believe we have delivered a robust suite of affordable and accessible application development tools that markedly increase productivity. It thrills us to see that the industry agrees."
Jolt Awards are given to products that "jolt" the industry with their significance and make the difficult task of creating corporate software faster, easier and more efficient. The Jolt Hall of Fame Award is presented in honor of development tools that "continue to provide jolts of productivity to development teams with each new release." In the nine-year history of the Jolt Awards, only Visio Enterprise and two other products, Microsoft Visual Basic and Compuware Numega's BoundsChecker, have been inducted into the Jolt Hall of Fame.
"Visio has won numerous honors in the design and management category," said Roger Smith, technical editor at Software Development. "Developers find Visio to be an indispensable application for modeling everything from business processes to complex system architectures."

Built on Visio's award-winning Visio Professional, the popular industry standard for IT diagramming and documentation, Visio Enterprise 5.0 provides functionality in three main IT domains: software engineering, database design, and network design and documentation.
The Jolt Hall of Fame Award is the most recent in a flood of awards bestowed on Visio Enterprise this year. At Fawcette Technical Publications' Visual Basic Insiders' Technical Summit earlier this year, Visio Enterprise won the Visual Basic Programmer's Journal 1999 Editor's Choice Award. Visio Enterprise has also been awarded Network Magazine's Network Design Product of the Year. And finally, based on its full set of network documentation tools, Visio Enterprise is a Novell Developer's Contest award winner.
