Visio Corp. Reorganizes Worldwide Marketing to Sell Visual Solutions

New Structure Underscores Company Shift to 'Software the Way You Want It' for Individuals, Large Organizations and the Internet Community

SEATTLE, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ — Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced a new worldwide marketing structure designed to help the company reach its revenue goal of becoming a $1 billion company over the next five years. Visio marketing will organize broadly into four worldwide initiatives, including cross-industry, cross-functional customer units. This new marketing structure will enable sharper customer focus and the ability to deliver Visio® tools to customers who want packaged product, customized enterprise solutions or configurable Visio software over the Internet. Visio is also increasing its worldwide large organization sales force in 1999, accelerating the hiring of corporate sales and sales engineering resources to strengthen the company's ability to serve its customers and drive Visio products broadly across the enterprise.

Visio: The Customer-Centric Organization

To help its customers obtain the visual solution they need, Visio has organized four primary marketing initiatives: the End User Marketing Group, the Large Organization Marketing Group, the Internet Marketing Group and Customer Units.

The End User Marketing Group is responsible for demand creation among individual users, helping to sustain Visio's market leadership on the desktop. This group will manage packaged product upgrades and channel campaigns and will focus on emerging international, government and academic desktop markets.

The Large Organization Marketing Group will drive deeper penetration into large organizations by enhanced volume pricing programs, customized solutions and training to a variety of industries, partners and customers. Two teams bring further focus to this group: The organization marketing team will generate demand at the organizational level, providing training and education for business managers and executives. The solutions marketing and consulting team will help customers develop customized solutions on top of the Visio platform.

The Internet Marketing Group will deliver eVisio™ products, also announced today. The eVisio configurable products are made-to-order solutions and will be available via the Internet. Customers will be able to configure eVisio products to create their own custom solutions and purchase them at the eVisio Web site. The Internet Marketing Group will work closely with an eVisio community to bring even better content, components and service to customers worldwide. The site where eVisio products can be configured and purchased is scheduled to go live by the end of March.

Customer Units are entrepreneurial teams focusing on customers who depend on drawing or diagramming to do their jobs. Customer Units are charged with understanding the needs of engineers and facilities managers, for example, and will work closely with the other Visio marketing and development groups to ensure those needs are met.
